Food and Drinks Breakfast: For breakfast expect a blending of cultures. From Honduran baleadas (cheese, eggs, and refried beans in a flour tortilla) to cereal and milk, and everything in between, this meal will gear you up for the full day of work to come. Lunch: Served on the worksite, lunch is usually light to counter the big meals served in the morning and night. Sandwiches, fresh fruit, and fruit drink are staples for the midday meal. Dinner: The evening meal is where you will get a real taste for Honduran cooking. Look forward to enjoying rice, beans, white-corn tortillas, plantains, salad and a meat dish prepared in a variety of ways over the week. Snacks: Each day, a morning and afternoon snack of fresh fruit, cookies and juice will be served to provide energy boosts on the worksite. Drinks: Tap water is not sanitary to drink in Honduras. Purified, bottled water and bottled juices will be provided throughout the day. Some hotels also provide safe bottled water or use purification systems for tap water. Fruit juices sold on the street should be avoided unless made fresh in front of you. |
